Hello fellow community members!

Hello fellow community members! it think it is time to make our community's logo looking "more creative". Originally I simply cropped one of my images to create the existing one but I think shooting and editing with a specific purpose in mind usually creates better results. If you have any ideas or ready to share you work for community's benefit, please do not hesitate! What say you?! I will create a new section "Contests" for uploading your creative works.

  3. Teresa Prater :) it was meant to underline the "not professional" nature of our community (even though I believe some of the members do have the necessary skills to sell their works if they choose to).

  4. Actually I believe it is a French "loan word".  LOL But no problem is all good.  :-)

  5. Im not a professional.. in spite of my formal education in photography.. its a tough tough place to make a living.. where too often the client has not the slightest clue what they want or what they are talking about.. 10,000 hours.. ;) its a MUCH better word than amateur.. and its negative connotations in spite of its true meaning.. (An amateur (French amateur "lover of", from Old French and ultimately from Latin amatorem nom. amator, "lover") is generally considered a person attached to a particular pursuit, study, or science in a non-professional or unpaid manner ) yet somehow comes off as 'not very good at' Create away.. ill make it, but it might have a spaceship in it..

  6. Fanatic is a good alternative word. Paid or not, if it is beyond an occupation, or is a preoccupation. Than fanatic, is a good term.  :-)

  7. As a side note: My personal definition of a "professional" photographer, or any other "professional" for the mater; is simply one who get paid - for their mistakes...

  8. some even take the amature -> fanatic to the next level and go from fanatic to fetish.. and face it.. some people are at that level.. lol
I have gotten paid many many time to work a camera, but I has been many years and I totally lost my love of photography when too many people paid ME to take pictures.. Im glad it can just be my fetish.. ;-)

Hi.. my name is Kevin.. and I have an abnormal love of the art of photography..... no 12-step program needed..

  9. AMEN! Sometimes the very worst thing you can do, is to turn professional at something you are passionate about. Then, it becomes about the money, paying bills, and not about doing what you love...

  11. I concur, but think weekly or monthly... Just to avoid confusion, if they have the right group or not...

  12. We can change the logo as soon as a suitable alternative comes. Daily, weekly or hourly.... Actually - hourly may be a little stretch... Weekly should be good enough I think.

  13. As a matter of fact the community name does not have any sentimental value to me. As many people have troubles understanding my intentions, we can change it. I'm open to suggestions as always.

  14. I am content, as it is, but have no problem with change either.

  15. IMHO dont change the name.. if it needs to be explained then put "dil·et·tante
    ˌdiliˈtänt,-ˈtäntē/Submit
noun: a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge." on the front page description...
