Large Containerships at Hamburg's Container Terminal 'Tollerort' (Hamburg, May 2015)

Large Containerships at Hamburg's Container Terminal 'Tollerort' (Hamburg, May 2015) First in line is the 'YM Ubiquity', a 8,200 TEU vessel constructed in 2012 and operated by Taiwanese based Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. The other one is the even larger 'COSCO Belgium', a 13,400 TEU ship constructed in 2013 and operated by Peking based China Overseas Shipping Company. At the time I took the pictures the YM Ubiquity was ready to go while the COSCO Belgium had just arrived. #hamburg   #hamburgphotography   #containerships   #shipping   #ship   #maritime   #ports

CSCL Globe - The World's Largest Ship in Hamburg (January 2015)

CSCL Globe - The World's Largest Ship in Hamburg (January 2015)  With a length of 400m, a beam of about 60m and a capacity of 19,100 TEU (suitable for up to 190 million iPads) the CSCL Globe currently is the largest ship in the world. 60 meters longer than the largest aircraft carrier ever built and about 50 meters longer than the world's largest cruise ship, "Quantum of the Seas". The Globe was constructed by Hyundai Heavy Industries and is owned & operated by China Shipping Container Lines. The ship left Shanghai early December 2014 for her maiden voyage and has made a stopover in Hamburg. By the way: the Globe will be at the industry's pole position only for a very short period of time given that the even larger "MSC Oscar" was inaugurated a couple of days ago...    #hamburg   #hamburgphotographers   #containership   #containershipping   #containerships

Container Liner Heading for Shanghai (Hamburg, May 2012)

Container Liner Heading for Shanghai (Hamburg, May 2012) The Hanjin Asia is a 366m long container vessel with a capacity of about 13,000 TEU and an engine power of 68,800 KW (around 93,600 PS). Port of registration is Douglas on the Isle Of Man (UK). Owner is Hanjin Shipping, a large liner agent ("Reederei"), based in South Korea. Rotation of the ship is from Hamburg to Shanghai which takes 77 days. This line is operated by Hanjin Shipping on a weekly basis using a total of 12 ships of the same type. What's interesting to know about the company is that in 1997 they bought Senator Lines, a German container shipping company based in Bremen, which they liquidated in 2009. #hamburg   #hamburgphotographers   #containership   #containershipping   #containerships
