From what I have seen, this is a fantastic reference book, I think I shall be getting one also. If you are a film shooter, this is an invaluable reference. And if you are looking for a meaningful Christmas gift, this could be ideal. Originally shared by John Kossik I recently came across this self-published book while doing a little research on film production processes.  I have even emailed the author, a ver interesting person.  My copy should arrive at my house this week, I cannot wait to read it.  Has anyone else read this book? http://www.makingkodakfilm.com/

A good friend and long time pro photographer relayed his worst miss-adventure with "Large Format Photography".  He shot weddings in 4x5" B&W. And of course he processed his own works. He had shot a wedding with reception and when he got home, he decided, in spite of being tired, he would do the film that night. He used a series of sheet film holders in a multi-tank system for processing. He loaded the holders and started to 'soup' the film. It was only then he realized that he had his eyes closed, but neglected to turn the lights off in his darkroom! The entire wedding was there in front of him, rapidly turning solid black in the developer... I believe that was his last wedding. And the lesson here is that anyone can totally screw up what the do as routine, if you are tired enough. So, do not push yourself too hard, you will not like the consequences.

Hear ye, hear ye! In the first round of the competition, which required, just to keep it simple for the judge, all 3 hashtags, the outstanding heart of 송민호 with 56 positive1's, 18 above the nearest competitor, & way out of my league! Next judging this weekend, I will trim it down to 2 of the 3, whichever is shorter. Then I've got to find some bugger to pass this on to! I'd like to pass it on to a moderator, & the 2 I know have had their go! So by the end of judging (thanks everyone for contributing your +1's!), I'll do some research & nominate someone, unless they're are some volunteers out there?

A photographer, unless just shooting for self enjoyment only, should always be looking for things that would make the world a better place. By showing the beauty, the acts of love and kindness, we can reassure those who have a heavy load to bear.  However, it also behoves us to be a conscience for humanity as well. To shed daylight on things that are wrong. An answer is not required, as others, when aware, may come up with them. But not to become morrows with the bad, as there always will be some. So a photographer is an artist a showpiece of the glories of life, an entertainer. And also a documentarian and a whistle blower of the wrong things. Very very many things to be done. A responsibility to the responsible person. So keep your camera always with you. You never know what will be next, but it wont wait for you if you are not prepared.

As one who can plead guilty as charged, to this addition, I agree in philosophy and concept with what he is saying. I know the power of attraction to be a blatant consumer. But I continually make effort to lessen this. Sometimes more successfully than others. Especially when it comes to photographic tools, case in point is my preferred RAW conversion tool. I currently use Capture One Pro from Phase One and I actually cut my teeth on their offering when I first became a user of digital tools. I had a stint with Lightroom for a while when they started releasing local adjustment options but when CC came around I refused to get onto the bandwagon. Phase One in the mean time put in a lot of work on their local adjustment options and their rendering of the files straight out of the camera in my opinion are superior. I returned to the solution about a year ago and I am very happy. Make no mistake, it is not a cheap option and it lacks some level of functionality in one's workflow because a lot of the plugins out there are written specifically for the Adobe environment. I was told to keep one foot on the floor while sleeping it of on your back :) I wonder where Charlie was the night before!? By the way that's his favorite spot in the kitchen right in the veggie box, you might notice an onion sticking out, bottom left of the frame :))

With this picture i would like to express an upright posture, in the midst of all these ambiguities … I am still using the old version, as the new one - as it is now - is unbearable for me. Trying to put myself in waiting position and being patient, after i could at least settle the photo access (see the other post). Hoping  that google  will find a supportive way and acceptable final result. This morning i was thinking about having to delete my page here, after so much work and love, which i had put in it.... I really would have missed YOU!
