This is an example of what extensive editing can do to a poor photo.

This is an example of what extensive editing can do to a poor photo.

The original shot was done on a very early digital camera, The Sony "Mavica" which was essentially a 640x480 "TV" still shot, written to a floppy disc.

The first is what came from the camera.

The second whent into Photoshop for sharpening adding digital "detail" working extensively with colors individually, and setting four levels of contrast.

The last was done in Black and White, with some split toning done, along with more contrast adjustments, and even more sharpening.

Although there are certainly limits as to how much you can pull out of a small poor image. It is amazing how far you can go! With practice, it becomes easier. Still this was many hours of trial and error to get this far.

  1. Good job! It's probably something I'd never do. Sounds way too advance for me haha :)

  2. It's fun and a challenge to do. But, it does take time.  :-)

  3. Great work! Though in the last shot the sharpness is still not perfect, the quality of the photo has really improved and the structure of the skin is very natural!
