These things we do.. one of my favorite things to 'DO' with photoshop it to fix old photos.. the woman is my maternal grandmother and is from a photobooth.. the original is about 1-1.5" (25x45mm) the man is my paternal grandfather, the original is a 2x3 wallet size.. and dont bother trying the website, its not been paid for in some time.. after I realized that web design is not in my major skill set.. I forgot to pay for.. mmmmm? a year or two.. LoL
Very nice work! You have a talent for this.
ReplyDeleteWow...very good job!!
ReplyDeleteVery impressive! Kevin, would you mind explaining in general terms: what did you do?
ReplyDeleteGenerally the post scan work flow goes like this:
ReplyDeleteI typically copy a layer and convert it to B/W, contrast and level adjustments, then retouch / replace the border retouching in towards the subject, typically getting finer and finer as I go.. then I will either change the color to sepia or match the tone of the original, that I still have copied as a layer, then use an airbrush set to colour to do large areas working down to smaller details, If I am using PS elements, I select the face and play with the ‘flesh tone’ filters, if not I typically select a nice flesh tone and airbrush the colour in. usually working much more saturated than I want and desaturate until I see what I like..
for the photo of my grandfather I went through the same steps except left the saturation at a more modern looking level..
Great job. And thanks for the details. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd.. I work cheap.. if anyone needs such work done..
ReplyDeleteKevin Vincent Thank you very much for this detailed workflow! For me - it is very educating!
