Hello my friends

Hello my friends,  We are looking for a few people, who can occasionally comment and share their personal opinion regarding the images posted to our community. Willingness to help is more valuable for the "moderator" job in our group than a formal or informal training, although an ability to point out to obvious improvement points and critical thinking would be welcoming assets for such a candidate. Please, anybody, who does not mind spending some time occasionally on these tasks, let me know. Ideally I'd like everybody in this community to become such a "moderator"  as I believe - everybody has the necessary skills.  Sincerely yours, MM

What do you, guys, think about micro stock photography sites?

What do you, guys, think about micro stock photography sites? At some point I gave several such sites a try, sold a small number of my works and decided that is not for me: time consumption is great, profit - at least - at the beginning - is very low and - most importantly - I did not enjoy it very much. At the same time I think I learned a lot about the criteria the commercial photography sites use for choosing works that can be potentially sold and some tools that may make your photos more useful for graphic designers and other customers buying photos from the micro stocks.

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone! With this image I open a batch of images, taken "on the run" during my lunch breaks in downtown Toronto, using an inexpensive point-n-shot Lumix camera. Your comments and criticism are most welcome!

What ISO do you, guys, consider the highest useful/usable?

What ISO do you, guys, consider the highest useful/usable? Sitting at the highest level in Rogers Centre and having only Canon EF-S 55-250 mm f/4 -5.6 - not the fastest lens for sport photography - I did not have a choice but to bust ISO to be able to capture motion. This picture is taken with 3200. I find this value a maximum for my Canon 550D. Anything higher than this usually looks quite noisy. Normally I tend to use ISO values no higher than 800, preferring, of course, 100-200 but may be technology had developed beyond my expectations. What are your thoughts?

RAW vs JPEG.

RAW vs JPEG. A couple of years ago a friend of mine, a professional photographer, introduced me to the RAW processing. Shooting RAW significantly increased my ability to adjust the end-result, fix it if necessary and apply special effects after the fact. I am using Adobe Lightroom for processing and post-processing, sorting and labeling of my images. At the same time I have to admit that processing require a great deal of additional time and many amateur photographers do not have or do not want to spend on this task. Are you shooting RAW? What tools do you use for processing?
