But for sure Fuji kills B+W films, slide films and some color film multipaks. This may result in increased prices, and maybe the relabled cheap films will disappear. Back in the film days, there was a lens speed race.Every manufacturer was intent on coming up with faster lenses ("f-stop" rating). Now days, as astronomical EI (ASA) common pace, lens speed is much less of an important factor. But, I always wondered: Is there a top speed, a theoretical limit? See the video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=360&v=84ZXfviMBFE

Somebody just "liked" this year-old post to the Psychology of Photography Community. Folks in Dilettante Photography might also be interested. Originally shared by Jeff Diver Over the years, how has photography changed your life perspective? As a consumer of photographic images, I span the historical space between the 19th and the 21st centuries. My grandfather used glass plates. My father set up his dark room with developer, water bath and fixer in our kitchen. Most of their work was black & white, color processing being left to commercial labs. When color arrived, I found my world expanded. Life magazine and National Geographic set standards. Now I am bombarded with excellence here on the internet. Has the explosion of photographic excellence improved my perception? I think I appreciate more. I also think I'm missing a great deal in life and am more conscious of other's life experiences. I wish I had more than one life to live and yet in some way--through photog...

Have you ever heard of isochromatic film? Yeah, me neither! I found a definition, with background, below... In 1873, Hermann Wilhelm Vogel discovered that the spectral sensitivity could be extended to green and yellow light by adding very small quantities of certain dyes to the emulsion. The instability of early sensitizing dyes and their tendency to rapidly cause fogging initially confined their use to the laboratory, but in 1883 the first commercially dye-sensitized plates appeared on the market. These early products, described as isochromatic or orthochromatic depending on the manufacturer, made possible a more accurate rendering of colored subject matter into a black-and-white image. Because they were still disproportionately sensitive to blue, the use of a yellow filter and a consequently longer exposure time were required to take full advantage of their extended sensitivity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_film

I continue to experiment with Google Street view derivations and occasionally get a bit philosophical.

I continue to experiment with Google Street view derivations and occasionally get a bit philosophical. Use of the cell phone in public areas has sure changed the pulse of urban life! Syncopated times, perhaps? Originally shared by Jeff Diver Life, Stilled The "still life" of the 21st century is a far cry from that illustrated by 19th century artists. Since the advent of the cell phone, pedestrian traffic no longer flows predictably, but is a dance of random motions, the demented play of musical chairs. Do we stop when the music starts, or is it the other way 'round? Makes things complicated when we are all dancing to different music! https://goo.gl/GsHgR7 Meriden, CT #9X2

I wish you all the best in everything! (include our community) Happy Birthday, dear Michael Mossiagin (^o^)/

"Who's birthday?

Michael Mossiagin: they tell me that we'll be celebrating together today. Us Southern Hemisphere types have the Winter Solstice, but the Northern Hemisphere has your birthday. Have a beaut one.

Tomorrow is Michael Mossiagin's Birthday!

Tomorrow is Michael Mossiagin's Birthday! Those who do not know, Michael is the founder and owner of this community. He has put a lot of work here, for all of us to enjoy, and has kept us mostly one big happy family besides. So if you feel inclined, why not tell him, in a few words, what all he has done, means to you? Or even a simple "Happy Birthday" would surely also be a nice thanks. :-)

It has been quite a while since I have posted any of my artwork here.

It has been quite a while since I have posted any of my artwork here. This painting was inspired by a series of photos I did for a portrait, of a character, or 'Avatar,' who resides within the grids of Second Life, in the clouds of the world wide web. Photos can be a great incentive, and reference for accuracy when painting. And like in this case, for times when a "in person" painting reference is not possible! My just finished portrait in oils, and stretched canvas, 11x14" Miko *Botan, Shinto priestess, shaman of unseen life. Painting and photo © Oshi Shikigami

Yeah, sure. Just what I wanted! ;-)

As has been pointed out in another community, photoshop users can embed invisible QR codes as watermarks in images.

As has been pointed out in another community, photoshop users can embed invisible QR codes as watermarks in images. See https://goo.gl/Po2IVe Is there a way to do this without using photoshop? By the way, I enjoy seeing visible, non-intrusive ownership marks at the bottom of images when viewing shares, as I then can Google for more photos using that info should the poster fail to direct me to a photographer's home page. (Not that that ever happens!;-) https://goo.gl/Po2IVe
