  1. This high ISO also works well in color.  :-)

  2. Oshi Shikigami thanks. As a matter of fact I think the noise was more pronounced in the b&w image because of some reason.... In a couple of years we will through away our flashes and will all be shooting at ISO 10000000 in a full darkness :)

  3. Another option you can use a combination of "sharpening" and "noise reduction" in Lightroom, or simile software. It can start to diminish resolution, if you are not carful, and overdo it. But it is often possible to minimize greatly the grain effects too, which might in some cases be the better compromise. Keep in mind the intended viewing distance/size for the image. As when it is small enough, the grain might not be noticeable.

Also depending on the camera, some form of noise reduction may be available when you shoot. With my D7100, I can set several different levels of noise reduction. I pretty much leave it on maximum. The only downside to this is that it takes time to process. Above 12,800, it can be 30 - 60 seconds between shots...

  5. I believe your Canon has some form of noise reduction built into it. Experiment with that, if you haven't already. I noticed it made quite a difference in my Nikon's shots at triple and quadruple digit ISOs.

  6. Oshi Shikigami I believe it set it to minimal reduction and forgot about this setting. I will try changing this setting though. Thanks for your advise.
