When you are doing 'portraits' of cats, or smaller critters, it's not hard to get limited DOF. And to get good bokeh, just have some limited highest in the background. Often you can get both of these effects with a normal or telephoto macro lens, as well.

I draw attention to her head, by having everything else out of focus, just enough to look less than sharp.Focus on the eyes, and tip of nose, and back of head spikes, are just starting to go soft.

When you are close enough (under a foot or so), almost any lens, becomes a very selective focus lens.

Actually, when you get to about life size (1:1), the focal length of the lens has almost no difference in the DOF. So, you can use whatever lens you wish, for about the same effects of focusing. Though some lenses have better bokeh presentation, than others do.

  2. Thank you Ranco Sevla Sevla. I appreciate your comments.  :-)

"Tenpa" is Japanese. It means "curly".

She was a rescue of sorts. The local pet shop had her for about a year. They could not sell her to anyone, because she had a tail that had broke and healed at an angle. Nobody wanted a "damaged or defective" lizard. So she did not get bought.

Well I saw past the "defect" and saw a lovely creature. So I took her home. I think her tail looks cute, and named her "Curly". She has been a most pleasant lizard. And she gets on just fine with her cage-mate Yuri. She makes me happy, and I am glad she came into my life.  :-)
