A barge/tug combination. The last major vessel built for Great Lakes service. The VanEnkevort tug was built by the Bay Shipping Co. of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin in 1988. The Trader was constructed in two halves at Halter Marine's yard in Pearlington, MS, then towed to the New Orleans yard to be joined together and fitted. The Trader , a self-unloading barge, is the 16th largest carrier on the Great Lakes with maximum seawater dimensions of 740x78 feet and a cargo capacity of 39,600 tons.
