I agree completely with this sentiment. Sometimes we get so psyched to shoot something, that we forget to just take it all in.
And if things aren't perfect, there are still a lot of pleasures we can derive from just observing. Take a breath, sit quietly, and let the entire total experience of it, soak in.

As a photographer, I always try to remind myself to simply enjoy the moment even when the conditions aren't perfect for the frame. It's at those times when I love to just take a step back and surrender a few moments to fully appreciate where I am and what's in front of me.
Over the years, this simple practice has helped me learn to place more value in the experience of a place rather than the act of capturing it.
In this case, overlooking exquisite Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, just being here is enough to put a huge smile on my face.
However, that all being said, I certainly wouldn't mind if some epic clouds decided to roll in. ;)

Wow! Magnificent :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Like sun light and lake like mirror
ReplyDeleteI agree.... No picture, does not matter how beautiful and skillfully taken, stands a comparison to the raw and not artificial magnificence of Nature.
ReplyDeleteI have a deep gratitude for photography though and those who share the magnificence of their surroundings. It has opened the door to those who might never leave their homes or towns let alone their countries of birth. I feel blessed that I've had the opportunity to live in Germany for 4 years and traveled to many of the European countries surrounding it while there...we live in an amazing world!
