Well its time for another photo competition, contest, and display of your favorite and best!

Well its time for another photo competition, contest, and display of your favorite and best! So, for the next two weeks, 25 Oct. through 7 Nov. you can place up to 5 (five) pictures, of your choice, and that you made, with the correct hash tag and identification for the subject of...

Lets see here... We have Halloween coming up, but thats too easy, been done! How about, the opposite? The subject is, "Spiritual, or Inspirational". It does not have to be 'religious' or so identified, although it can. This is the 'high road', the 'good things', whatever makes your heart feel contentment or sense of inspiration. It can be humorous (see below!) But, should not be demeaning or mean spirited.

Please, I know discussing religion can be a "hot button issue" for some. For this contest, I ask that you keep all comments of disbelief, for "right or wrong", or any comments demeaning any one's personal ideas or faith, away from this . I mean it, and if I see blatant violations - YOU WILL GET BANNED. Respect others, thoughts, and images. Period. Technical photo critique issues are allowed, but as we have always been very good at, keep it polite and upbeat. Thank You! And good shooting!  :-)

  1. hello dear Oshi Shikigami
You are definitely extraordinarily good at perfect explaining something. In this case i do agree, that it is more than important. A great theme! and highly sensitive, but MOST challenging and interesting. Thanks for your wonderful effort and great 'spirit'!!
BTW: i personally don't like Halloween or better said, what is being done with it mostly...

  2. Thank you for the support Naturpunkt by Gina M.. :-)

I though that we all 'all adults' in this community, and have the maturity to handle this subject without strife. I sincerely hope and trust this is the case.  :-)

    ReplyDelete
  3. Oshi Shikigami my pleasure, thank you Oshi

  4. A challenging theme! I'm thrilled to see what our members are going to post? Spirituality can be understood differently and does not need to do anything with the religious beliefs at all. Lets keep our minds open. Thank you Oshi Shikigami !

  5. I figured that if any community could take on this subject, without turning into a hatefest, we here at Dilettante Photography, could. We have mature, and open minded members. I trust them to not let a differing way of life with it customs and beliefs, cause any sarcasm or smears.

Common you all! I believe you can!  :-)

  6. I commented on this post but don't see it anymore. I didn't already break a taboo did I??

    ReplyDelete
  7. Absolutely not! Whatever happened it was accidental or brainless bot! Please my friend, keep posting.  :-)

PS anyone who has this happen, do let us know? Of course you are spamming, only doing reposts, or post something slanderous, you should be able to guess why you are gone!

  9. Must have been a G+ poopoo. Must be a big update coming down the line ;)

  10. Oshi Shikigami what you said,
"I figured that if any community could take on this subject, without turning into a hatefest, we here at Dilettante Photography, could" ...
i would feel the same. I am in other communities too, but this one is really one of my 3 favorites because of you special people! yeah, that must be said sometimes
Well to stay at the subject, maybe Michael Mossiagin hat a 'spiritual' input,at chosing the strange name of diliˈtänt,-ˈtäntē

    ReplyDelete
  11. Michael Mossiagin lol I called it! Every time an update comes down the pipe, G+ goes on the fritz. I was using Firefox earlier and thought it must be an issue with it so I just jumped back on Chrome and I see that on my main G+ menu, "Photos" is gone. Anyone else still see the Photos link on your menu? This was the direct link to Google Photos. Maybe they finally decided to get rid of that hunk of JUNK and go back to the old method?

    ReplyDelete
  12. David D yeah, I have the same thing. I think Google want to separate photos from G+ to make it a service like Flikr. An association with G+ make its usage seemingly limited to this social network only.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That really cripples G+ to me. I knew they were trying to break off the social aspect from the photo aspect but I was under the impression that was more of Hangouts becoming stand alone. If they make it much more difficult for me to look back and easily find photos I shared, I will probably be stepping away from G+.

    ReplyDelete
  14. David D yep. I am getting tired of all these bugs and inconveniences as well.

    ReplyDelete
  15. David D Michael Mossiagin
i too find it very annoying to have to search around and find ways to find the own pictures in the before organized and titled albums.
I did not want to fix G-drive as standard, for security reasons, so it makes it all complicated. I never do hangouts and i am not interested in such things.
They seem to want to have the hand on, what seems to THEM important by/after sharing, as days etc., hej how can one remember which day it was posted?
anyway... i hope you don't leave here friends, can´t leave me here with that stuff!

  16. Michael Mossiagin Naturpunkt by Gina M. I noticed that the link to Photos is now under the drop down menu on the right, between your name and your notifications number. You have to it hit More but you can drag and drop it up to the main portion.

    ReplyDelete
  17. David D do you mean, under the Header Photo where it was before too? hmmm... yes that was additionally there all the time, but now when opening, it's not showing the albums and one has to scroll and scroll through everything, partly endless to get to albums, which were not used for some time.
    I haven't got other options

    ReplyDelete
  18. Naturpunkt by Gina M. In Chrome, in the top right corner of the window, where the number of new notifications you have show. It's not the old photos but the link I was used to was in the left drop down menu, not the right. I could not see it initially as I had to click "more" to see my other Google apps. When they removed it from the left menu, I thought it was gone. It's still not the version that showed you albums. Taking those away was their way of trying to force us into Collections I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  19. David D ah now i understood, you mean opening that square (Raster - just know the German word). I looked that up in my private profile, if i can find it there and it is there, but not on my Naturpunkt page site. On the page site its only showing 4 options
    My Business
    Statistiken
    Google+
    YouTube
well, maybe they'll still put it for pages..
Yes taking away the albums they wanted to force us to make the collections, i am am convinced about that.
Till now i've only made one collection, because the photos get stolen anyway. I don't mean sharing, i mean unallowed downloads etc. So i don't like to share really whole collections for that reason, even when collections optically look attractive.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Naturpunkt by Gina M. In your profile settings, you can turn off the ability of others to download your photos. Collections will sometimes build more followers than your personal account. I have a collection that has 5 or 6000 more followers than my profile! I even received a notification from Google+ that it was a "featured" collection for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  21. David D i have enabled the download in the settings. What you write about your experience with a collection is most interesting, hardly unbelievable, that so many people are interested in. Wouldn't have guessed that. Last week i was thinking about maybe making 2 more, because i've got main themes for nature and thatfor it would be interesting. What you mentioned, gives me another perspective in looking at it, thanks a lot David! I'll have a look at your collection of course! Ah it's the Arkansans Waterfalls one!
wow....and btw i just saw, how many followers you've got....WOW ...lOl
that is most impressing for a little amateur photographer like me  :-)))

  22. For what it is worth, I hold both of you in very high regard with the qualities of your works. Very well done technically and ascetically. I don't rate people per-say, but have to give credit when its due. And it is, with you two.  :-)

  23. Pardon my ignorance (newly returned to the digital world) but what is the "appropriate hashtag"?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Just to clarify, I will be announcing the results from this picture-fest, Sunday November 8th 2015. please stand by, there are a huge number of entries. And virtually all of them are great.  :-)

Also, As this one was somewhat out of turn order, I am unsure who may be nixt? Michael Mossiagin, Is that arranged? Should I try and figure the next person? Thanks!  :-)

  25. Oshi Shikigami I am always thankful to the moderators, who passes the torch to the next in line :) The list of the moderators can be found on the community's page, right upper corner, under "About This Community" (if any issues with the list arise, please let me know, I will make the necessary changes). In this case I believe the next moderator would be Pauli PPariah . Pauli PPariah would you be able to conduct the next bi-weekly contest on Dilettante Photography? Have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Fantastic! And thank you Pauli PPariah!

As of this time entries are closed and I now have the really tough job of determining winners for tomorrow.  :-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oshi Shikigami I am imagining the large monitor & you playing the entries full-screen slideshow, perhaps a wine Thank you for taking time out of your own photographic life to encourage the ART of photography

    ReplyDelete
  28. You got it nailed, except for recently, when my computer is arguing with my every request!  LOL. Hugz, and have fun with the next contest.  :-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. hello. It would seem I have a few problems. First, is that I am having a revolt going on within my body. Parts refusing to function as they should, and have. Second my computer. As I've stated here for a while, since the new OS upgrade. i have had nothing but problems with my very nice expensive!) computer. I am unable to get some of the most fundamental operations to work. I cannot get a large portion of my software to work at all. And that that does, is spotty. It is off and on, and then gone again.

The gist of such, is that i have not been able to give the "contest" entries a fair evaluation from myself. TO come up with what are my choices, (within my own perspectives and choices) a format for winners and such.

I will say I am greatly pleased by nearly every single entry I have had chance, over the week to see. You have all done extraordinarily to show your understanding of the request i put out, and your own magical interpretations for such.

So, rather than drag it all out, and keep people guessing for a unknown long time. I am going to with the power given to do so, call all are winners. EVERYONE did well, and if you gave it any thought at all, which you most certainly did, you WIN

You win because you care enough to try, and thought to present your thoughts. My deepest and abiding congratulations. Welcome to a world where we all win, We all get benefit from all. HUGSZ and welcome home...  :-)

  30. Pauli PPariah, the torch had been passed. the batten is yours now. You may set the parameters for the next evaluation or contest. choose subject for the next two weeks or so. Go for it! I am sure you will do a far better job. I and others await your words.  :-)

  31. Oshi Shikigami That took a few minutes to deal with, surprise me! & I'm having problems with my laptop (that feeds the big screen) so I sympathise & say well done, mate.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes, there seems to be a lot of that going around. Well, We can pause if you think you can deal with a delay. if not, just let us know, and we will go further down line, so we may find someone who can officiate the program.

I am confident in your abilities to do so, but I also know what havoc can be had with malfunctioning equipment. Just let us know. And we will follow. Best of luck, for a problem free computer!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oshi Shikigami hi! Have you had a chance to conclude your "Spiritual" contest? I must have missed the post and could not find it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Michael Mossiagin, please note my message above five posts. I explain the situation I hope. But if you wish other info please ask? I am hoping this window of operability will last, as the last few have gone as fast as they have come. And, If I can ever make arraignments, transport my comp to the nearest Apple store which will likely suck up a whole day, and take me off my feet again for a while. But it must be done, this is intolerable.

    Hugz, Oshi

  35. Oshi Shikigami sorry. I knew I must have missed something. Sure. Feel well.

    ReplyDelete
  36. No problem. I am doing a little better today, so far... I hope I don't loose that.  :-)

  37. Oshi Shikigami take care. I hope you will fell much better soon.

  38. Many thanks, I appreciate the kind words, and thoughts. I shall endue as best I can. This is all to much fun to miss!  :-)
