For #ContrastingColors : Orange/Green/ and some Blue Cyan. I am not a city lover, but i did love Heidelberg! Heidelberg is a city that will capture your heart. Famous the world over, it is a perennial favourite among international tourists. The city has so much to offer: charm and character in abundance between the Old Bridge and the mighty castle, an unparalleled choice of culture and entertainment, hearty yet heavenly cuisine and a picturesque setting nestled between the Neckar river and the foothills of the Odenwald forest.
With around three million day-trippers every year, Heidelberg can boast some of the most impressive visitor statistics in Germany, Europe and probably the world. In some ways this is a shame, because one day really isn't enough. Those who stay just a little longer will discover a host of attractions away from the beaten track and will have more time to soak up the unique atmosphere that sets Heidelberg apart from your average university city. The main attraction for all visitors is, of course, Heidelberg Castle, perched on the slopes of Mount Königstuhl some 70 metres above the Neckar. The person with the roof tile concession, must be very rich indeed! ;-)
ReplyDeleteDear Gina - Your wonderful photo with it's sort of vintage style makes me remember: Some 20 years ago I was living in the Frankfurt area and during the summer times I quite often used to go to Heidel berg (which is a 60 to 90 minutes car drive) with my first love. Looking back, these were happy days. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely shot, Naturpunkt by Gina M.
ReplyDeleteIt brings back memories of my past time living just outside of Heidelberg and working at the Cancer research institute.
I had just graduated high school at a fresh age of 16 and my parents had pulled some strings for me to get a spot in the Trade education program.
At the time I didn't really realize what great opportunity that was for me and I flunked out.
But later on realizing what a big mistake I had made.
My life went on from there and landed me in the beautiful state of Kentucky in which I reside now.
My parents still live close to Heidelberg in a little town called Ochsenbach.
Oshi Shikigami Hi Dear
ReplyDeletei have no clue about things like that :-))
your thoughts are always interesting though!
Guido Billstein so pleased to read your lovely and interesting comment and that this picture brought you such happy memories!!
ReplyDeleteThe sort of vintage style is just the adding of a little color to the sky, which was grey/white :-)
Thanks for sharing your memory with us!
Schönes Wochenende wünsche ich dir, mit ganz herzlichem Gruß!
Gina
Etography I had no idea, that this picture would bring such interesting memories :-) . I loved to read your story! well that means, that you are / were German? Oh, what do we know with 16... and i can so well understand, what you experienced.

ReplyDeleteYes that means I am German, trapped in a life of uncertainty.
I came to the states in 1996 and haven't found my way back yet...
There are many time where I reminisce about the old Germany that I'm accustom to.
I really grew up without parents, I was raised part of my life by my grandparents and the rest of the time I spend in boarding school.
After eight years of that I returned back to my parents at the age of 16 just to find out nothing had changed, it was all the same prison of unemotional abusive terror.
I ran away from home and moved to France for a couple of years.
I m sorry to hear that you grew up without family, I can feel with you the emptiness inside, a void that no one can fill or be a replacement for.
So many lonely moments of agony and self doubt, self blaming for circumstances that are not your fault at all but yet it's hard to see on your side of the mirror.
So many things tried and tried again just to fill the void of nothingness in this great universe with all the amenities a heart can desire but nothing there or here to fill the empty bottomless void...
I understand, I feel and I see, all around me .
P.S. I shoot raw...
Naturpunkt by Gina M., sorry, it was an attempt at humor. As all the roofing looked the same, if one person were to sell it all to the builders, he would make a lot of money making the sales. :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful scenery!!! Nice capture!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOshi Shikigami :D now i got it, so sorry that the old lady sometimes doesn't get it instantly..! though i know about your so special humerous kind.... just imagine, how this scenery would change, if suddenly over night all the roofs were grey and flat!
ReplyDeleteEtography At first i have to correct, that i had not meant, having had no parents. I did have parents and „family“ at that time (though not any more, cut with all of them 2 years ago because of desastrous herritance matters).
ReplyDeleteBut i was the eldest and they had only 2 things in mind, which they thought, was prudent for me (them) regarding the building way. That’s why i left with 17 and searched for my own.
I know what life of uncertainty means as well and as you said „the emptiness inside“.
The old Germany and your reminiscence: everything has changed completely, so in Austria as well and not for the good.!
I am happy, that i still could live real human values at certain past times.
Photography is one of the most wonderful ways to express. I had a good look at your pictures and you make most interesting, beautiful works Eathan!
Warmest greetings to you
Gina
Flat roofs leak, all them, all the time. Especially if you get snow and ice.
ReplyDeleteI would then get a fortune repairing those roofs! LOL
Oshi Shikigami oh you are full of endless surprises Oshi!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Naturpunkt by Gina M. , the rolling hill of green down to the cit of orange!
