The Color Red is known as a color very hard color to reproduce in most cameras.
Most of the time the details are lost in the color red. Or what we think is red comes of as different shades of fuchsia. On a calibrated computer screen you can see what I am talking about.
When I judge a theme photo competition,  l separate my vote in 3 categories.
1) The interpretation of the theme. Meaning how accurate and close was the image in relationship of the given theme. 40 points.
2) The originality and visual impact of the image. Meaning in the large pool of entries how the image faired with its dynamic visual impact.  30 points
3) Technical and compositional values. Meaning how well the image faired technically, use of light, color’s rendition, clarity of the shot etc.  30 points

I went through the entries several times. Examined everything I mentioned above.
I first would like to thank everyone who had participated.

The first winner is:  Bartosz Wiatrak
He entered with 3 images, in all his 3 shots, constantly he achieved a very strong graphical signature style shots. Technically top, the interpretation of the theme was top. I discovered he loves a certain visual order. A certain visual symmetry, broken by the subject matter in this case the color RED the man. One side you can see the chaotic city life reflected, the other side pure zen with like a nothingness and harmony of a cement wall divided graphically. In the intersection of all the subject matter the color RED sax player. Brilliant.  40 + 25 + 26  Total score of  91

Second place goes to Michael Mossiagin
His yellow window with red fall leaves wins the second place. I like the depth I saw in this shot. It stood out constantly day after day for me. Compositionally everything did fit well. Technically great shot. I can see it very well as a pleasing wall art.  His red coke truck was nice, but it could not compete with the fall window in many ways. 38 + 24 + 25 Total score of  87

Third place winner is  Daniel Berner
The abstract red garden wall art. He entered with some strong images to this competition. This one stood out from the rest. The photo was shot at a very sunny day which Daniel took advantage of the shadows created by the sun. the background’s wood texture was well exposed, the red was a true  red not fuchsia, and I had discovered that although it was an ordinary scene his composition made it very a playful abstract shot. I can also see it on a wall of someone’s cottage or a loft space to bring in the graphic warmth. 37 + 24  + 25 Total score of 86

I hope I make sense. Thank you everyone.
