Hamburg Elbe Philharmonic Hall - Isn't She a Beauty? (March 2015)
Well, every Beauty has it's flaws. Opening delayed by around seven years (now scheduled for January 2017). Construction costs marginally higher than expected: €789 million instead of €241 million. I have heard that after the planning process was done they were taken by a surprise. Of the fact that the building would be located on a small island. By the river side. Made some minor adjustments unevitable. In public accounting it's called 'Act-of-God' costs. Last rumor I heard on the street: They did not yet budget for any operating costs. Probably they thought a Beauty such as this will get it all for free...
