Called in Breton "Gwen Ha Du " which means Black and White 5 black stripes which represent the 5 Northern regions 4 white stripes represent the South regions The ermines are the heritage from the dukedom of Brittany .No particular meaning . The Breton culture is very important and all the people living in Brittany want to keep it .It's a Celtic culture ,so has a link with Wales ,Ireland ,Scotland . All the first saints who came to Brittany were either Irish or Welsh ,Scottish
There are many Breton festivals with their dancing groups . The costumes are different according to the regions .
Thanks for that elisabeth tubaut. I'd love to read more sometime (maybe with photographic accompaniment?). The hymn is really cool (although I didn't understand a word, of course!)
