Cockatoo Island
Sydney Harbour, NSW, Australia

[location mention in the original post has been updated to reflect that the Island is still in Sydney Harbour]

Cockatoo Island Sunset

This island in the Parramatta River is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its convict history. Over the years the island had been in continual use for various different reasons…making it a photography fun zone.

  1. Isn't Cockatoo Island still in Sydney Harbour? Nice shot

  2. You would know better than me, but when I look at Google Maps, the body of water on all sides was listed as the Parramatta River...and Wikipedia says: "...is located at the junction of the Parramatta and Lane Cove rivers, in Sydney Harbour..."

Where does the Harbour end and the River(s) begin?

  3. Ah. As a non-NSW-ian I thought of the Harbour as ending just past Darling Harbour or something.

    Thanks for the correction.

I am no authority, haven't lived in Sydney for 20 years

  5. You are a better authority than me! I'll take it!

Hopefully, I'll get back to Australia. There was a chance that my wife's business would take us there again [next May], but it's fading.
