I really like the contrast of blue and orange. The background is lit less and not distracting. Positioning the main subject in the left third of the frame creates a sense of motion and dynamics.... I would turn the picture clockwise just a notch but that's to make the red board parallel to the ground but that's just my craziness. Small details like a cigarette in the side of the mouth and a bracelet on the right hand make the picture even more real. Despite very high iso being used, I do not see noticeable noise even zoomed up. All in all great portrait in my opinion!
This is a fisherman on an outbound boat in the harbour of Le Tréport. The photograph was shot from the side of a sea water lock hence the bird"s view that allowed to have a simplified background.
The cut hand is not for the best, either if it is not awfull, so I am a bit afraid that the suggested clockwise rotation would aggravate that.
I could have been more careful with my settings (1/2000 => ISO3200). But to tell the truth, I do not too much bother with that. At ISO3200 the results are quite good as you havs seen, thanks Fuji, so I tend to set it as the top of my auto iso range once for all.
