I usually shoot ducks, but today I wandered to the local Koi place to see if they had any ducklings (not yet) and this creature caught my eye, I saw him and thought of Oshi Shikigami (the photo was through glass, in a brightly lit room, so I was quite lucky with it)

  1. This is a juvenile, ( 9 months to 1.5 years old) most likely female, "Green" or "Chinese" Water Dragon lizard (Physignathus cocincinus).

This species of lizard is the most lovable, and beautiful, of all the pet trade lizards, in my opinion! I have had many species over the now almost two decades of care and rescue for dragons. I have had, rescued and found homes for dozens of these lovely dragons. Fantastic, lovable, and humorous, with a very reserved temperament.

They do require sophisticated and in depth care though. I would not recommend for a casual pet or a learner one. As they can be very stoic, it is difficult to tell when there is a health issue with them, until it is likely to late to save them. So only a good choice for experienced and dedicated dragon lovers.

If you wish to see more of these dragons, I have many photos of them in my personal photo albums posted here on G+ If you wish to know in depth about their care issues, please visit this web site. It is by far the best dragon care site on the web!

  3. Oshi Shikigami Many thanks for the identification, and other information; I'm not generally interested in lizards, but she looked lovely (& alert rather than stoic:)

  4. Martin Cooke, yes, she seems alert, and inquisitive or happy.

Naturpunkt by Gina M., Your welcome. I am glad to inform people about any of these beautiful dragon lizards. There is so little known about them for people in general, and even amongst the scientific community. But, they are interesting, lively, and enthusiastic creatures - that have a rich social life and also, for the most part, make very good pets. If someone takes the time to know and understand them.  :-)
