Following Oshi Shikigami's recommendation, I tried making the list of moderators on our community's description more interactive, where each name is a hyperlink. It did not work and I decided to add a new category "Moderators Mail Box", where such an interactive list would be found. Here it is:

Thanks! This is great! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid we "lost" several moderator in a process :) I'm totally cool with that and hope these members will still participate in our community's life as much as they can. I would also ask all the moderators to consider promoting other members they find suitable to this position. Now, when moderator's duties are more or less defined, potential candidates would know what is expected and agree only if this role is acceptable.
ReplyDeleteEr, Michael. I see my name there. For Dilettante Photography? What is this about? Forgive my ignorance but Im totally at sea here.
ReplyDeleteSandra Llewellyn oh, sorry about it. I believe the alert was sent to you a while ago. If you do not have time to help, it is totally ok - I will remove you from the list, although if you are interested in this role, it can mean a great deal to us. Moderators have more power in managing the community content than regular members and typically are more involved in its life. The "duties" contain judging the weekly contest in the rotating manner and participating in the moderators vote once a month. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteMichael Mossiagin Really sorry about that, I was aked to be a moderator but said I was really busy and would only be free during my 2 month holiday a year. Not very reliable for you Im afraid.
ReplyDeleteThank you for making the list more easier to find!
ReplyDeleteI'll do my best!...
ReplyDeleteSandra Llewellyn ok, I have got it. Sorry for this misunderstanding.
ReplyDeleteMost of the smaller communities I ever modded. (Think Alt.xxx.xxx.xxx) did well with 4-6 mods.. with anyone who showed favoritism loosing the mod right then.. we are quite a busy group being we are less than 1k and some communities with 10x that have less posts.. but other than one or two incidents.. and a couple of spam posts.. this is a pretty 'mature adult only' community and as such could probably do with three or four.. not everyone wants to be.. my 0.02c
ReplyDeleteKevin Vincent has a point. I am unsure how many moderators this community needs. What number would be most efficient.
ReplyDeleteI am sure there is a broad range of the numbers that would work perfectly well. And as such, not sure it needs to be a significant issue.
However, I think we have "plenty". Wether we wish to go through a reduction - or not, I am not sure of. But certainly, if there are any who do not feel comfortable dealing with the responsibilities, we should let them "bow out gracefully" without hard feelings! Let them graceful go, and with out thanks for all that they have done so far.
I think I have done.. Maybe 4 "mod things" and three of them were approving posts Google marked as spam...
ReplyDeleteGoogle has for some reason picked some very Not Spam posts to label as possible spam lately. I am unsure why?
ReplyDeleteyea, I think maybe it has to do with posting links? IDK.. I was thinking the same..
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is the number of times a "single" post is posted by one (to separate communities), at the same time?
ReplyDeleteI actually got to 'approve' one of my own posts in a different forum..
ReplyDeleteLOL, isn't that ironic? He he he!
ReplyDeleteI am struggling on how to post the photos of the winners in the VSOP category...is there a trick?
ReplyDeleteProbably, to change them to VSOP you just change the category.. (I just figured out that you cant change the catagory on other Mod's pix) Not sure how to make the post like Michael Mossiagin Anne Elling did?
ReplyDeleteDebbie Nelson I change the category to VSOP, just as Kevin Vincent mentioned. ;)
ReplyDeleteDebbie Nelson , Kevin Vincent the way I posted all the winning pictures was to save them first on my desktop and then to re-post them all together. Since I clearly say who are the authors, ownership should not be a problem.
ReplyDeleteI figured that was it.. Just wasn't sure..
ReplyDeleteI went to the post and copied the link then posted it under VSOP...
