Bulk Carrier with Two Tugboats (Hamburg, January 2015)
This ship entering the port of Hamburg is the Santa Katerina sailing under the flag of Panama. The bulker has a capacity of around 58,100 dwt (deadweight tonnage) and is owned by Meiho Kaiun, a Japanese shipping company. The tug boats are usually used to, among others, help ships maneuvering inside the port.

These are beautiful and strong images. I am intrigued by the almost silhouetting of the ships. A haloing of sorts? Could you share how this was achieved?

Regarding your question: The day I took the picture (which was on Wednesday the7th of January) the weather in Hamburg was sunny but also a bit hazy. Therefore, while editing the pic I used the sharpening tool quite extensively. Which I guess caused the silhouettes...
