A Night at the "Hamburg Dom" (1) - March 2017 It's this time of the year again. Northern Germany's biggest fun fair event, the Hamburg Dom has opened last weekend and will continue until the end of the third week in April. The event takes place three times a year (spring, summer and late autumn /early winter) for around 30 days each time. It is located on Heiligengeistfeld (i.e. 'field of the holy spirit'), near the St. Pauli and Reeperbahn area. So, if you like giant wheels, roller coasters, bumper cars, carousels and so on and happen to be in Hamburg it is a great idea to go there have some fun. The name goes back to a market / trade fair in or in front of Hamburg's Cathedral (German: Hamburger Dom) which was first recorded in 1329, at the beginning only in special seasons like Christmas.
